Dr. Collins graduated from Teague High School in 1977. In 1980, after three years undergraduate study at the University of Texas in Austin, he was granted early admittance to the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in June 1984. After four years of family practice experience, Dr. Collins was accepted as a resident in the post-doctoral program in orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics at UTDB-Houston where he graduated in 1990. Dr. Collins' commitment to continuing education has taken him throughout the United States from Portland, Oregon, attending classes on fixed functional orthopedic treatment, to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to attend a five day miniresidency on current topics in orthodontics. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Texas Orthodontic Association, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and the Central Texas District Dental Society. He is the orthodontic advisor for the Texas Advanced Dental Seminars, which consists of approximately 25 dentists. He is also the current President of the University of Texas Orthodontic Alumni. Dr. Collins and his wife, Kathy, have been married since 1982 and have two sons, Reed and Zack. Both of their boys attend Midway schools. When not at the office, Dr. Collins enjoys golf, hunting and fishing with his boys. |
